Pastoral Sports Day Ģż Making new friends |16 June 2023

Last Saturday, āPastoral Zanfanā in collaboration with the National Council for Children hosted some sports and cultural activities at the Roche CaĆÆman playing field, under the theme āMaking new friendsā.
The aim of the activity was for the children to make new friends and interact with each other through various sport and cultural activities, while having fun and staying active.
The event has been part of the annual agenda for āPastoral Zanfanā and the council, as part of activities to celebrate Childrenās Day.
Speaking to Sports NATION, Daphney Belle of the āPastoral Zanfanā said the different activities on the programme included sports, such as team relay, football, obstacle race, two-legged race, along with various traditional games such as rope skipping, hoola hoops, āronnā, Ģżand tug-of-war.
She said he children were divided into 12 groups of 50 and after spending 15 to 20 minutes in one activity, they switched to another, while remaining in their selected group.
She noted that the children had great fun and took part actively.
āIn general each child had the chance to take part in all activities during the day,ā said Ms Belle, who added that this year, they received way more kids than the previous years.
āWe had a total of over 600 kids, including a great number from the Anglican community, along with kids from different parishes,ā she said.
The activity was sponsored by āPastoral Zanfanā, the National Council for Children (NCC), the Childrenās Fund, the Catholic diocese of Port Victoria and parents.
Still according to Ms Belle, within the different parishes they will continue to organise different activities, while on June 24, they will conduct the same activity on Praslin, while they will continue to promote the theme for this year.
They will conclude their annual calendar with their regional Christmas party.
Meanwhile, āHelp me to know my rights and Responsibilityā is the theme chosen by the children themselves, under which to carry out next yearās activities.
