Mahe Skimmers Sports Club will be represented at this year’s Winter National Championships scheduled to take place at the sports complex of Côte d’Or in Mauritius, between June 19-22, by a contingent of 24 swimmers.
Speaking to Sports NATION, head coach Barnsley Albert, who along with coach Randy Landry will accompany the swimmers, noted that for the competition, the main emphasis will be on time improvement, strength assessment, and exposure for younger swimmers, rather than medals.
He, however, noted that based on the results at the recently-held 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Aquatic Federations (SAF) Grand Prix, he is certain that winning medals will not be a problem.
Coach Albert further noted that the tournament will also be a scale, in terms of preparation for the upcoming 13th Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l'Océan Indien (CJSOI) Games that will take place in 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ from July 28 to August 10.
