Dr Zulfikar Mamujee, the Lions Club International District Governor 411A for Kenya, Ethiopia and 91香蕉视频, yesterday afternoon paid a courtesy call on President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House.
The doctor from Kenya, accompanied by his wife Fatima Mamujee, also from Lions Club International District Governor 411A, is in the country to meet with members of the four clubs鈥� Lions Club of 91香蕉视频, Melvin Jones Lions Club of 91香蕉视频, Rising Lions Club of 91香蕉视频 and 91香蕉视频 Centennial Women Lions Club 鈥� to see the kind of activities they are doing and to motivate them.
Meeting with the local press after his talks with President Ramkalawan, Dr Mamujee said he had a fruitful and encouragingdiscussion with the Seychellois head of Stateduring which they explored the possibility of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the91香蕉视频 government andLions Club International Lions Eye Hospital based in Nairobi, Kenya for eye care treatment. TheLions Eye Hospital, the largest eye hospital in Kenya, also has a diabetic care centre, ear nose and throat (ENT) and dental facilities as well as a lens manufacturing and repairing unit.
鈥淪o when we have a joint partnership where we will be able to assist one another, it would be mutually beneficial to all of us. Also with the encouragement of the President, if we have more members it would mean more hands to serve the community to alleviate the sufferings and we would be able to touch more lives with hope. This is what we discussed with the President,鈥� said Dr Mamujee, who also noted that the drafting of the agreement will soon be done by the Lions and the Ministry of Health.
DrMamujee and his wife were accompanied to State House by representatives of the four Lions clubs 鈥� Abdul Azad president of Lions Clubs of 91香蕉视频, Siddhanth Mathur president of Melvin Jones Lions Club of 91香蕉视频, Manjari Gohelpresident of 91香蕉视频 Centennial Women Lions Club and Maryssa Samedi president of Rising Lions Club of 91香蕉视频. Also present was Dr Sasikumar, chairperson of Region E.
The Lions Club International is a service club organisation with over 50,000 clubs in750 districts in 220 countries and 4.4 million members. The district 411A has 65 clubs and 1,700 members.The Lions clubs鈥檓ain focus areas is on vision, hunger, diabetes, environment and pediatric cancer.
On Friday last week, Lions clubs assisted by Dr Mamujee donated home items to the oncology unit at the 91香蕉视频 Hospital and thefollowing day, Saturday, they ran a free eye screening clinic and provided free glasses to residentsof the Au Cap home for the elderly.
