Dr Alberto Pieri, the third ambassador of Italy to 91香蕉视频, yesterday paid a courtesy call on President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House.
This was the first meeting between Ambassador Pieri, who was accredited in February 2019, and President Ramkalawan who assumed the highest office in October 2020.
Speaking to members of the local press after his talks with the Seychellois head of State, Ambassador Pieri described this first meeting with President Ramkalawan as 鈥渧ery interesting鈥. He said it was an opportunity to review the long existing relation and partnership between 91香蕉视频 and Italy. This is in various sectors of the economy namely, fisheries, tourism, budget control and maritime security.
鈥淲e discussed the possibility of Italy continuing to provide training courses for Seychellois in different fields. We explored how we could collaborate in the area of culture and both of us agreed that there is a need to further strengthen our bilateral ties in different areas,鈥 Ambassador Pieri said.
鈥淭hese fields of collaboration, I assured the President that we will continue to consolidate while we explore new areas for training to be added,鈥 he said.
Ambassador Pieri went on to commend the 91香蕉视频 government for its effort to bring the tourism sector back to recovery in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic. He noted that with tourism as one of the pillars of its economy, 91香蕉视频 has remained focused on its recovery in this difficult time. He acknowledged that tourism is reviving and hopefully will reach the level it was before the pandemic when Italy was one of the largest target markets for 91香蕉视频.
鈥淲e wish this could again happen and maybe even reach a better level than before,鈥 Ambassador Pieri remarked.
