As part of their Golden Jubilee celebration, a delegation from the Anglican Church paid a courtesy call on President Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan yesterday at State House.
The delegation comprised the Bishop of Mauritius, Bishop Stenio Andre, and the General Secretary - Council of Anglican Provinces in Africa (CAPA), Venerable Joseph Kofi William Graft-Johnson, Archdeacon Ft. Danny Elizabeth andReverend Christine Benoit from the Anglican Diocese of 91㽶Ƶ.
Venerable Graft-Johnson and Bishop Andre are in the country to participate in the celebration of theGolden Jubilee of theAnglican Diocese of 91㽶Ƶ, which was on March 25, and the anniversary of the creation of the Province of the Indian Ocean on March 27. The Province includes 91㽶Ƶ, Mauritius, Madagascar.
Bishop Stenio Andre, who is from Mauritius, was glad to be in 91㽶Ƶ to celebrate the Golden Jubilee as he was in the country some thirty years back.
“The President is an old friend of mine and together with the other members we discussed about the activities of the Anglican Faith in 91㽶Ƶ, its challenges and how the Church can collaborate with the government in community work.”
Bishop Andre also noted that Anglican Church in 91㽶Ƶ has made a lot of progress and now after the pandemic it is time for the church to go back to the homes and be close to the people.
The President seized the opportunity to thank the guests for their presence in joining 91㽶Ƶ Anglican community in celebrating the91㽶Ƶ Anglican Diocese’s 50th Anniversary.
