“On this National Day, June 29, we pause as a people to reflect not only on our independence, but on the values that make us proudly Seychellois, our unity, resilience, sense of justice, and above all, our sovereignty.
“For nearly half a century, we have stood together as a free and independent nation, shaped by the dreams and struggles of our ancestors. Our flag flies high today because of their sacrifices. But let us be clear: sovereignty is not a gift, it is a responsibility, and democracy is not guaranteed, it must be defended.Ìý
