91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ, China and UNDP sign MoU for advanced early warning system

91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµâ€™ Internal Affairs ministry, the Chinese government and the United Nations Development Programme have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the Transformative Integrated Adaptation and Early Warning Systems Project.

The signing by Minister Errol Fonseka, Chinese ambassador to 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ, Lin Nan, and the resident representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Mauritius and 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ, Amanda Serumaga, took place yesterday morning at Maison Quéau de Quinssy, Mont Fleuri.

This initiative supports 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµâ€™ national commitment to implement the Disaster Risk Reduction Strategic Action Plan 2021-2030. Under this project, 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ will enhance its climate and disaster resilience by establishing an advanced multi-hazard Early Warning Systems (EWS) capable of real-time hazard monitoring and alerting communities. Moreover, the project will support the development and establishment of risk-informed policies and digital platforms to improve access to risk data, enabling more risk informed decision- making.
