91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’ Internal Affairs ministry, the Chinese government and the United Nations Development Programme have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the Transformative Integrated Adaptation and Early Warning Systems Project.
The signing by Minister Errol Fonseka, Chinese ambassador to 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, Lin Nan, and the resident representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Mauritius and 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, Amanda Serumaga, took place yesterday morning at Maison Quéau de Quinssy, Mont Fleuri.
This initiative supports 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’ national commitment to implement the Disaster Risk Reduction Strategic Action Plan 2021-2030. Under this project, 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ will enhance its climate and disaster resilience by establishing an advanced multi-hazard Early Warning Systems (EWS) capable of real-time hazard monitoring and alerting communities. Moreover, the project will support the development and establishment of risk-informed policies and digital platforms to improve access to risk data, enabling more risk informed decision- making.Â
