National Assembly approves amendment to correct “error” relating to Constitutional appointees

The National Assembly has approved the Constitutional Appointees Emoluments (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

Some 24 members voted in favour during yesterday’s sitting. None voted against, while four abstained.

This Bill seeks to amend sections 7A and 8 of the Constitutional Appointees' Emoluments Act (Cap 256). The amendments seek to bring an Ambassador, High Commissioner or any other principal representative of 91㽶Ƶ within the purview of section 8(3)(c) of the said Act in order to provide for the said category of Constitutional Appointees to draw the pension at the age prescribed under the said section 8(3)(c) of the Act.
